A person may also obtain U.S. citizenship by being born to U.S. citizen parents overseas or derive it from parents who naturalize.

Requirements for Naturalization

. 18 years or older (some exceptions);
. Good Moral Character;
. Simple English conversational ability;
. Pass a test on U.S. History and government;
. Have been residing in the U.S. as a L.P.R. for five years; and
. Belief in the U.S. history and government.

All naturalization applicants must demonstrate good moral character and belief in the U.S. Constitution and Government. Applicants should review the following materials and carefully read the N-400 application before applying.
